JORDAN COPAS : STATEMENT OF FAITH
WORD OF GOD : The sixty-six books of the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the written record of His supernatural revelation of Himself to man, without error in its statements, and the final authority for all I believe and how I am to live.
(2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Matthew 5:18, John 10:35, John 17:17, 2 Peter 3:16, Luke 24:25-27, Luke 24:44-45)
MAN : Adam/Man was originally created in the image of God, righteous and without sin. As a consequence of his disobedience/sin, all humans are therefore by nature and choice the children of wrath, justly condemned in the sight of God, wholly unable to save themselves. Humankind is now incapable of a right relationship to God apart from God's grace.
(Genesis 1:1-3, Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:9-23, Romans 5:12-21, Ephesians 2:1-3, Isaiah 53:5, Psalm 51:5, Galatians 3:22, Romans 6:23, Romans 7:18, Romans 11:23, Genesis 2:16-17, Genesis 3:6-19, Genesis 1:22)
TRINITY : One true God exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Being equal in Deity, power, and glory. God not only created the world, but also upholds, sustains, governs, and Providentially directs all that exist.
(Ephesians 4:4-6, Matthew 28:19, Acts 17:24-28, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Ephesians 1:9-12, Colossians 1:16-17, Hebrews 1:1-3, Psalm 104:1-35, Psalm 139:1-24, Revelation 1:4-6, Luke 3:21-22, Deuteronomy 6:4)
JESUS : Jesus Christ is the "Image of the invisible God" and that in Him "all Deity dwells in bodily form." Jesus was concieved by the Holy Spirit and was born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, He died on the cross as a substitutionary atonement for sin, Jesus' literal body was resurrected from the dead, He has a present ministry of intercession in Heaven, and Jesus will be personally returning to earth.
(Colossians 1:15-22, John 1:1-18, John 20:1-29, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 1 Peter 3:18, Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Corinthians 15:1-28, Matthew 1:18-25, Romans 8:34, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 2:1-2, 1 Peter 2:21-25, Luke 1:30-35, Galatians 3:10-14, Hebrews 1:3, Ephesians 1:20-23, Ephesians 1:7, Romans 3:24-28, Romans 5:8-11, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, Acts 1:9-11)
HOLY SPIRIT : The Holy Spirit convicts men of sin and regenerates, indwells, seals, sets apart, and empowers believers for service and for a Holy life. "God is at work within us both to will and to work His good pleasure" and that "He will continue to perfect us until the day of Christ Jesus." The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
(John 14:16-17, Romans 8:12-17, Ephesians 1:13-14, Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:13, 1 Corinthians 6:19)
CHURCH : The Church is not a building, The Church is the Body of Christ, the people. God has given His Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. It is important for every Christian to join with and be actively involved in a local community of the saints.
(Acts 2:1-47, Matthew 16:17-19, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 3:14-21, Ephesians 4:11-16, Hebrews 10:23-25, 1 Peter 2:4-5, 1 Peter 2:9-10)
SALVATION : Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. This is a free gift from God apart from works. Meaning there is nothing you can do to earn this free gift. Salvation comes through true repentance, a turning point from one's own way to God's way, and accepting Jesus Christ in personal faith and believing that Jesus is LORD.
(Ephesians 2:8-10, John 1:12-13, 1 Peter 1:3-5, 1 John 1:7-9, Acts 16:30-31, Titus 3:3-7, Romans 8:1-17, Romans 8:31-39, Romans 10:8-10, John 6:37-44, John 10:25-30)
LOVE : Loving God and loving other people is the two greatest commandments of all. We as believers and followers of Christ Jesus should try to model the way He loved unconditionally. Nothing works without love.
(Matthew 22:37-40, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, Ephesians 4:15, 1 Peter 4:8, Matthew 5:38-48, 1 John 4:7-21, 1 John 3:16, John 3:16, Romans 5:8)
DISCIPLESHIP : To make disciples is what Jesus has command His Church to do. You see Paul with Timothy, Luke with Theophilus, and Jesus with His disciples. Discipleship is an everyday life on life process, not a bible study or one meeting a week. You show another person what it looks like to be a learner and follower of Jesus and you lead by example. The way Jesus did.
(2 Timothy 2:1-3, Matthew 28:16-20, Luke 6:40, Acts 2:41-47, Acts 1:8, Ephesians 4:11-12, 2 Timothy 1:13, John 13:15, John 17 prayer, Matthew 4:19, Luke 10:1-2)
BIBLICAL MANHOOD : First and foremost, Jesus is the essence of manhood. An authentic biblical man is one who is on the noble pathways fighting the good fight of faith. He rejects passivity, accepts responsibility, leads courageously, and invest eternally.
(Ephesians 6:4, Ephesians 5:25, Colossians 3:19&21, 1 Timothy 6:11-12, Romans 5:17-19, 1 Corinthians 15:45-49, 1 Corinthians 13:11, 1 Timothy 4:8, 1 Timothy 4:7-8, Proverbs 20:7, Proverbs 27:17, Philippians 2:6-8, John 4:34, John 17:4)
